Illustration Friday - week of May 11, 2007 : Citrus
Okay so its an orange slice; not a lemon, lime, or other members of the family more commonly associated with the name 'citrus.' It was the first thing that came to my mind when I encountered the theme last friday.
Anyways, this image was created and finished completely using Free Software graphic apps (although on a non-Free operating system but you know, little baby steps...). Vectors done using
Inkscape v0.45 (including the gradients and gaussian-blur shadows), while the icon (viewable at the illustration friday site, which had to be in .jpg format) was converted from .png using
GIMP v2.2.4. So Yay! I finally used Inkscape in Illustration Friday
And yes, I know perfectly well that this pic sucks. So what? I made it using
Free Software 
[and maybe, just maybe, I'd be able to create honest-to-goodness pretty artwork with these... I have a lot of catching up to do (sigh)]
