Traditional Art / Drawings / Still Life

The desk at the guest room at the Sacred Bridge Foundation's office at Pondok Pinang, March 2007.

Items on the desk: an ashtray (one of those novelyt ashtrays made to look like a rubber car wheel, with lots of cigarette butts in it), Mas Agung's big cup of half-consumed black coffe, two gas lighters (one Mas Agung's, one mine), the TV remote (which looks more like a nondescript box), a scissor, a notepad, and some Maja(?) nuts in a clear plastic bag. While sketching, I placed my foot on the side of the desk.

You may notice a hinge near my foot. That's because the desk is like this big box. Inside the desk/box are some books, a dead surge-suppressor, and other stuffs. Legend has it that the desk is supposed to be some sort of traditional Javanese coffin.

The proportions are all soo mistaken. I don't consider this a scrap since it is as done as I'll ever make it.
